Children's Data Policy

1. Purpose of This Policy
Simple Advocate LLC ("Simple Advocate," "we," "our," "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of children's information. This Children's Data Policy explains how we handle personal information related to minors when parents, guardians, or authorized caregivers use our platform.
This policy supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to:
- Information about children (under 18) that is uploaded, entered, or managed by a parent, guardian, or authorized caregiver
- All documents, notes, records, and data related to a child stored on the Simple Advocate platform
3. How Children's Information Is Collected
Simple Advocate does not collect information directly from children. All children's information is provided by the parent, guardian, or authorized caregiver who manages the account.
This may include:
- Medical records, evaluations, and diagnoses
- Educational records (IEPs, 504 Plans, assessments, report cards)
- Therapy notes, goals, and progress reports
- Developmental milestones and care plans
- Demographic information (name, age, school, services received)
- Appointment schedules and task lists
4. Parental Consent
By creating an account and uploading information about a child, the parent or guardian provides consent for Simple Advocate to store, organize, and process that information solely for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Parents and guardians may:
- Review all information stored about their child at any time
- Edit or update any information
- Delete specific documents or records
- Delete the entire child profile
- Delete their account and all associated data
5. How We Use Children's Information
Children's information is used only to:
- Provide the core functionality of the Simple Advocate platform
- Store and organize documents as directed by the parent
- Power AI-assisted features (summaries, analysis, organization) when requested by the parent
- Generate reminders, timelines, and task lists
We do not:
- Sell children's information
- Share children's information with advertisers
- Use children's information for marketing purposes
- Create profiles of children for any purpose other than the parent's intended use
6. How We Protect Children's Information
We apply the same security protections to children's data as all user data, including:
- Encryption of data at rest and in transit
- Role-based access controls
- Secure hosting environments
- Vendor security reviews and agreements
- Regular vulnerability assessments
7. COPPA Compliance
Simple Advocate is designed for use by adults (parents, guardians, caregivers). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account without parental consent, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.

8. State Children's Privacy Laws
In addition to COPPA, Simple Advocate complies with applicable state laws regarding children's data, including but not limited to:

- Other state-specific children's data protection requirements
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Children's information is retained only as long as:
- The parent's account is active
- The parent chooses to keep the information stored
- Required by law
Parents may delete any or all children's data at any time through their account. Upon account deletion, all associated children's data is permanently removed within our defined retention window.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify account holders through email or in-app alerts.
